Living “Green”
Peconic Landing residents and employees are united in their commitment to conservation and preservation. Staff members on our Environmental Committee meet regularly to explore and implement environmentally conscious practices. We received “green building” certification for our Town Square construction, were awarded a ride share grant of $28 thousand and received a Long Island Transportation Award for Green Practices. We use environment-friendly cleaning products and use light bulbs that conserve electricity.

Peconic Landing’s Environmental Club is comprised of a group of residents committed to being a catalyst for environmental awareness and change. The group keeps track of key initiatives like encouraging residents to switch to low-flow shower heads. This effort has been such a success that 200 converted shower heads resulted in energy savings of 40%. Club members constantly look for ways to make Peconic Landing “greener.” They are involved in a myriad of initiatives that make a difference like sponsoring lectures and films or encouraging residents to “think green.” Those who commit to conserving resources receive a sign for their door that reads, “This is a Green Household.”
